Aly Alindayu, the participant of Marion Aunor’s “Pusuan or Laruan” dating game has broken her silence over her viral “Englishera” remark in the show.

“It's been 2 weeks since the spliced video was uploaded (before I had it taken down). This will be the first time I will open up to the public about this,” she began in her series of Instagram posts on Wednesday.

Calling the incident "the worst experience of my life," Aly said despite not doing anything wrong, “I got hate DMs, was made into memes, a sound bite, death threats and more."

She talked about the viral clip from the episode originally uploaded in August 2024, acknowledging that “maybe she could have used different words” but she was “only echoing what people have said to her.”

“I have experienced this ever since I was young. I get bullied no matter what language I use,” she explained.

As for the guy in the video who took on the matchmaking challenge, Aly said they have become friends after the show.

“He was not offended by the things I have said. What I said to him and what you guys have seen was a preference, not a deal breaker and I was not looking down on him or anyone,” she shared.

Regarding her “Englishera” remark, Aly said English is her first language even though she doesn’t have the typical American accent.

“I may not have the typical American accent that you're expecting but English is my first language. I spoke Taglish because it's a Filipino show and I was adjusting. I hope you can see that I was trying.”

Despite what happened, Aly said she is still “blessed with good people.” She also thanked the celebrities, and strangers who defended her.

“There are many people close to me or those I barely talk to standing up for me. There are even creators and celebrities I personally like and strangers who defended me as well. Thank you so much!” she wrote.

“If you made it this far, thank you for taking time to read this. To those who have sent me hate, I hear you. We have our own preferences and I forgive you and wish you peace.”

Aly recently drew flak online after her “Englishera” remark in the dating show that had gone viral.

In the September 2024 episode of the dating show, sexy single candidate Ian Ramirez took on to the matchmaking challenge where a group of girls holding a balloon were selected as one of his potential matches.

According to the mechanics, interested participants shouldn't pop the balloon. If they pop it, they should explain why.

Aly popped her balloon, first saying Ian was younger than her. She followed it up, explaining "it's more of language, cause I’m Englishera."

In the episode, she added she knew she can come off strong to people she tried dating. "As in nosebleed, I get that a lot and it doesn’t offend me,” Aly said back then.

“I feel like baka ma-overwhelm ka sa akin at ma-overwhelm rin ako sayo pag straight Tagalog,” she added.

In response, Ian said “When in terms of language naman, I can adjust since mostly in my teaching career, I teach international students so I manage to adjust to both English and Tagalog.”

Aly then asked, “But it doesn’t intimidate you, or overwhelm? Kasi I swear dire-diretso [mag-English].”

“One thing kasi sa relationship for me, you will adjust on both ends. So if one is lacking, then you can reach more on that person to make that connection,” Ian replied.

As the video resurfaced online, many netizens voiced out their mixed reactions toward Aly’s statement.

In her statement, Aly said she wants to be an “advocate for bullying” after what happened.

“I want to help other people because I do not wish this at all,” she said.
