MANILA, Philippines — Motorists are advised to expect heavy traffic near the EDSA People Power Monument on February 25 as Caritas Philippines and several civil society groups hold the “Trillion Peso March 3.”

In an advisory issued Saturday, February 21, the Quezon City government said traffic is expected to slow starting 8 a.m. along the following roads:

  • Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA)
  • Katipunan Avenue
  • Ortigas Avenue
  • White Plains Avenue
  • Temple Drive

White Plains Avenue will be temporarily closed to all vehicles beginning 6 a.m. on the day of the rally.

Authorities designated the following parking areas:

  • Temple Drive up to Giraffe Street (light vehicles)
  • Bonny Serrano Avenue eastbound (one-side parking for buses)
  • 18th and 20th Avenue (bus and light vehicles parking)
  • Along EDSA from People Power Monument to GHQ Gate 3 (friendly forces parking)

Local authorities estimate that 30,000 to 50,000 participants may attend the demonstration.

Other organizations are expected to stage protests at separate locations.

Commemorating People Power

On February 11, Caritas Philippines and allied groups announced that the third leg of the Trillion Peso March would be held February 25, marking the 40th anniversary of the 1986 People Power Revolution.

Organizers said related activities will begin February 22.

Earlier, on February 18, the National Capital Region Police Office said it would be placed on full alert status starting February 21 in preparation for the anniversary events.
