MANILA, Philippines–Alex Eala kicks off her singles campaign on grass on Tuesday (Manila time) against Australia’s Priscilla Hon at the WTA 125 Birmingham Open in England.
But before facing Hon in the Round of 32, Eala sees action in doubles on Monday at 5:30 p.m. with Czech Nikola Bartunkova.

The Filipino-Czech tandem takes on home bets Harriet Dart and Maia Lumsden, who are seeded second in the tournament.
Eala wrapped up a challenging clay season on Tuesday with a loss to close friend Iva Jovic in the first round of the French Open.
The 21-year-old Eala was supposed to compete in doubles at the Roland Garros with Canadian Victoria Mboko, but the two withdrew from the competition.
Eala, ranked 37th in the world, compiled a 4-5 record across five tournaments.
Eala and the World No. 143 Hon split their first two meetings. Eala won their first encounter at an event in Roehampton back in 2023 before the 28-year-old Hon returned the favor at the Ningbo Open in Ocotober 2024.
