Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation has joined forces with Fast Logistics Corporation, an end-to-end supply chain provider, to accelerate their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. This strategic partnership centers on the integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into Ajinomoto's logistics operations, marking a significant stride towards creating a more sustainable and eco-friendly supply chain in the Philippines.

Ernie Carlos, Ajinomoto’s director of supply chain management and chief sustainability officer, emphasized the breadth of their environmental commitment in an interview with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “When you say environmental impact, this is not just about greenhouse gases, but we also have other activities in terms of reduction of our plastic pollution and reduction of our carbon footprint,” he explained. “This partnership is part of our greenhouse gas reduction, which is electrifying our vehicles. We utilize vehicles to distribute our products from our factory to distributors and consumers.”

The initial phase of this collaboration is set for seven years, during which Ajinomoto will establish electric charging stations at their Guiguinto, Bulacan factory. Carlos also said that this partnership is timely and practical since their factory in the said area is using 100 percent renewable energy, and it’s just fit for us to have charging stations for electric vehicles.

Fast Logistics Corporation, leveraging over 50 years of expertise in diverse logistics services, is committed to delivering efficient, cost-effective, and future-ready solutions. Ely Baleta, Fast’s VP-head of solutions and transitions, told Manila Bulletin Lifestyle that they are planning to expand their EV fleet to meet growing demands.

“With our services, on a monthly basis, Ajinomoto’s operation could save up to 500 liters of fuels monthly,” he revealed. “The good thing with our electricity is it’s also solar powered. So from natural, renewable energy source down to our electric vehicle and to operations.”

This partnership between Ajinomoto and Fast Logistics serves as a model for businesses seeking to implement innovative and sustainable logistics solutions. Through their shared vision and collaborative efforts, they are driving a greener, more efficient, and socially responsible supply chain, creating positive impacts for businesses, communities, and the environment.
