MANILA, Philippines — There were no indications of data breach in the military’s websites and cyber platforms despite confirmed attempts by unnamed groups to access them, according to officials who revealed an investigation is underway.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) public affairs office chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad said the military “is actually verifying this matter seriously and we would like to get more details coming from our major services.”
Philippine Army spokesman Col. Louie Dema-ala noted that despite an intrusion attempt, no data was compromised and security systems are being improved to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
“We have detected an attempt to intrude into the Philippine Army cyber system. However as per verification, the system was not penetrated and no data was compromised,” he told reporters yesterday.
“However, as we are now talking, the whole cyber unit of the Philippine Army is now conducting a thorough investigation and…continuing enhancement of the cyber system of the Philippine Army to ensure our system is secure from these kinds of attempts,” he added.
Philippine Navy spokesman Commander John Percie Alcos said “an investigation is well underway to determine the extent of the breach.”
