FOR the ninth year in a row, Tala has been honored by the global media house Forbes, earning a spot on the prestigious Forbes 2025 Fintech 50 list. This annual recognition highlights the world's top fintech companies revolutionizing access, efficiency, and affordability in financial services through technology.

"We're honored and grateful that Tala is included once again in the Forbes Fintech 50 list. This is a great way to mark our 11th year of serving the global majority by addressing the gaps of financial inclusion through our services," said Moritz Gastl, general manager of Tala Philippines.

The recognition coincides with Tala Philippines' eighth anniversary. Since launching in 2017, the company has reached major milestones in its mission to serve the financially underserved. Notably, it secured a P2.75 billion loan channeling partnership with Maya Bank in the past year, expanding access to credit for millions of Filipinos.

Demonstrating leadership in the fintech space, Tala co-sponsored the publication of the Digital Lending Report by FintechAlliance PH, which was launched during the 2024 Singapore Fintech Festival. Tala is also a founding member of the Consumer Lending Association of the Philippines (CLAP), highlighting its commitment to best lending practices.

Tala's strong performance and growth reflect its role as a trusted financial partner for Filipinos. In 2024, the company recorded its highest number of new borrowers since the pandemic. To date, it has served 3.6 million customers in the Philippines and disbursed more than 23.6 million loans totaling P113.6 billion.

A key indicator of customer trust is Tala's 94 percent repeat rate. Three out of four customers also believe Tala genuinely cares about their financial well-being.

One such customer is May, who initially borrowed to pay for utilities but later used her growing credit line to start a food business. "Tala helped me a lot, that's why I consider it my 'buddy.' I felt the trust that Tala had initially given me, and we continue to trust each other to this day," she shared.

Hector, who lost his job during the pandemic, used his Tala loan to start a fruit stand and now sells a variety of goods, including meals and accessories. "As my loan limit grew, we're able to sell more things. This really helped our family and now we're working harder to expand our business even more so we can finally buy our own home," he said.

Beyond lending, Tala promotes financial literacy through initiatives like TALAkayan with Salve Duplito, a workshop series that equips participants with basic financial skills and money management strategies.

"Our vision for Tala this year is to grow our customer base in the Philippines to 30 million, reaching new users from more regions while constantly improving our services," said Gastl. "As the trusted financial partner of the global majority, we want to emphasize how financial services like credit can be a catalyst for change and long-term growth."
