MANILA, Philippines — ACEN Corp. has entered into a renewable energy supply deal to power the local operations of Japanese supply chain provider Yusen Logistics.

Under the deal, the Ayala-led energy platform will supply 100 percent clean power to Yusen Logistics Philippines Inc.’s head office in Parañaque.

Yusen Logistics president Mitsutaka Matsubara said the move advances the company’s climate targets of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent by 2030 and reaching net-zero by 2050.

In the Philippine market, the logistics provider boasts over 30 years of experience, offering end-to-end supply chain solutions. These include international freight forwarding and contract logistics.

The company has also built a strong presence across Metro Manila, northern and southern Luzon, and the Visayas and Mindanao.

“We are proud to welcome Yusen Logistics into our growing portfolio of partners committed to corporate sustainability,” said Sheila Mina, vice president and account management head of ACEN RES, the retail electricity supply arm of ACEN.

Yusen Logistics Philippines’ shift to clean power was facilitated through the government’s green energy option program (GEOP), which allows consumers with average monthly use of at least 100 kilowatts to procure directly from renewable suppliers.

“By choosing to source 100 percent renewable energy through the GEOP, Yusen Logistics demonstrates decisive leadership in decarbonizing the logistics sector,” Mina said.

To celebrate the milestone, ACEN RES awarded Yusen Logistics with a “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge, which is granted to businesses and institutions fully committed to energy transition.

Currently, ACEN RES is the leading GEOP supplier, dominating the national market with a 57-percent share, according to the Energy Regulatory Commission.

ACEN, meanwhile, is among the country’s largest power producers, holding a market share of 5.2 percent as of July 2025.
