MANILA, Philippines — American Power Conversion (APC), a flagship brand of French firm Schneider Electric, has tapped Ayala-led ACEN Corp. to power its five facilities in Cavite with renewable energy.
ACEN RES, the Ayala Group’s retail electricity arm, began delivering the power supply last month, enabling the manufacturing plants at the Cavite Economic Zone to run entirely on clean energy.
The facilities are primarily engaged in semiconductor manufacturing.
The agreement, which also covers Schneider Electric’s office and production sites, is expected to displace about 11,600 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
“This collaboration sets in motion our transition to 100 percent renewable energy at the Cavite Smart Factory – a bold stride in our journey toward net zero,” said Antonio Cheng Jr., plant director at Schneider Electric Philippines Inc.
The Cavite Smart Factory, Cheng noted, is poised to become the first facility within a government ecozone in Luzon and the first Schneider Electric factory in East Asia to fully transition to renewable sources.
“It is a milestone that underscores our commitment to climate action and positions the Philippines as a regional leader in sustainable industrial transformation,” he said.
APC, acquired by Schneider Electric in 2007, provides clean backup power and information technology physical infrastructure for data centers and industrial facilities.
