MANILA, Philippines — Tycoon Manuel V. Pangilinan’s Landco Pacific Corp. has tapped ACEN Corp. to power its beach resort in Batangas entirely on renewable energy.

Under the deal, ACEN unit ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (RES) will supply the clean energy needs of Landco’s Calatagan South Beach (CaSoBe) resort, a 15-hectare residential and commercial development.

Landco president and CEO Erickson Manzano said CaSoBe’s switch to 100 percent renewable power affirmed a commitment to environmental stewardship.

“By partnering with ACEN RES, we are not only ensuring a greener operation for our resort but also offering our guests a truly sustainable and responsible leisure experience,” Manzano said.

Managed by Landco Lifestyle Ventures, CaSoBe combines contemporary resort amenities with expansive, modern leisure and residential spaces along Calatagan’s coastline.

The master-planned development is poised to host commercial establishments like hotels, condotels, condominiums, events place, bars and restaurants, retail stores and other service-oriented shops.

“ACEN RES is proud to support Landco’s CaSoBe in its decisive transition to 100 percent clean energy. This commitment reflects a growing awareness among major leisure destinations to embrace sustainability,” ACEN RES vice president and account management head Sheila Mina said.

The partnership between ACEN RES and Landco was facilitated through the government’s green energy option program (GEOP), which allows consumers with average monthly use of at least 100 kilowatts to procure directly from renewable suppliers.

Currently, ACEN RES is the leading green energy retail supplier, accounting for around 57 percent of the GEOP market, latest Energy Regulatory Commission data showed.

As the Zobel family’s listed energy platform, ACEN boasts around seven gigawatts of project portfolio, of which approximately 4.3 GW are already operational.

Landco, a subsidiary of the Pangilinan Group’s Metro Pacific Investments Corp., is a pioneer in leisure resort development. Aside from CaSoBe, its key projects include Peninsula de Punta Fuego, the country’s first private seaside resort.
