A vindication for Maris and Anthony

1 week ago 4

After Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings got embroiled in a controversy when Anthony’s girlfriend, Jam Villanueva, exposed their “liaison dangereuse,” the success of their film, “Sosyal Climbers” (SC) is sort of a vindication for them.

It is currently the No. 1 movie on Netflix. They shot the flick long before Jam’s explosive revelation.

In “SC,” Maris and Anthony portray con artists. As Jessa and Ray, they are living a lie but their chemistry as a tandem is as real as can be. Their body language says it all.

If I could put a thought bubble over their heads, it would be: Why me?… Why you ?…Why not?

The duo’s other project “Incognito” is the second top TV show on Netflix. And Maris’ movie, “Sunshine” bagged the Crystal Bear for Best Film at Berlinale 2025. It only goes to show how crazy and unpredictable the “Marites culture” is.

After Maris and Anthony became victims of a lynch mob on social media, they are now the toast of the town.

Unlike most VMX stars who joined the biz because they are breadwinners, Angeli Khang comes from a well-off fam. So her foray into showbiz is all out of her passion for acting. The bombshell has crossed over to mainstream in GMA 7’s former show 'Black Rider.'

Angeli Khang won’t turn back on VMX

What an animated interview I had with Vivamax (VMX) queen, Angeli Khang, for my DollywoodPH YouTube channel.

Unlike most VMX stars who joined the biz because they are breadwinners, Angeli comes from a well-off fam. So her foray into showbiz is all out of her passion for acting. The bombshell has crossed over to mainstream in GMA 7’s former show, “Black Rider.”

She’s raring to do more TV projects but she won’t turn her back on VMX. “VMX paved the way for me,” Angeli pointed out. “So even if I get busy with mainstream projects, I will still find time to do VMX films. Eventually siguro less bold roles na.”

As for her lovelife, she turned giddy when she showed me the pic of one of her suitors whom she fancies.

“We are still in the getting-to-know-you stage,” Angeli revealed. “He’s not from showbiz but he understands the nature of my job.”

When I asked how she feels when some people look at her as a sex object, she shot back, “I let them drool. Seriously, I know my worth. I don’t let others define me.”

I chided Angeli, “May I borrow your cleavage even for a day?”

It feels good to have a newfound friend in Angeli. After our wine sesh bonding, I can very well say that there’s more to her than being a sex goddess.

Rossana Hwang, who runs the Kapitana Entertainment Media, is launching yet another book, The Lost Saints, on March 8 in Fully Booked BGC. Its movie version, Isang Komedya sa Langit, will hit cinemas in May.

The Lost Saints out on March 8

It was such a delight to meet Rossana Hwang. The visual storyteller and author has a production company, Kapitana Entertainment Media. She reminds me of Mother Lily. And just like her namesake, Osang Roces, she is feisty, witty and fearless.

Rossana is launching yet another book, The Lost Saints, on March 8 in Fully Booked BGC. Its movie version, Isang Komedya sa Langit, will hit cinemas in May.

“Through my book and film, my advocacy for literacy and education moves forward- One book, one movie at a time,” she said.

“As a female writer and filmmaker, I am proud to bring my historical fiction work to life proving that storytelling knows no gender.”

The Lost Saints is a captivating exploration of the lives of Filipino priests during the Spanish regime, interwoven with humor, heartache and hope.

Isang Komedya Sa Langit is a mélange of faith, destiny and comedy.

Witness the extraordinary journey of three priests portrayed by Jaime Fabregas, Gene Padilla and EA Guzman. The holy trio navigates trials, discovers truths and finds purpose in the most unexpected ways.

What better way to usher in Women’s Month than by celebrating Rossana and her new passion projects? “As she puts it, ‘Once, women’s voices were unheard, their stories untold. Today, women write direct, and lead. Let’s celebrate how far we’ve come.” Viva La Filipina!
