RICHARD Gutierrez and Rufa Mae Quinto stand on opposite poles as regards their respective connubial lives.

In Ogie Diaz's recent vlog interview, Richard finally confessed that he and estranged wife Sarah Lahbati are going through the process of getting their marriage annulled.

The Kapamilya actor stressed, however, it's for the good of both parties as "it's about time we moved forward."

Inspite of it all, the couple maintains an ideal co-parenting setup to their kids Zion and Kai: "We both want to see them live a happy, quiet life."

He hastened to get the facts straight contrary to speculations that he's finally letting go of their marriage all because of Barbie Imperial, his rumored girlfriend. Richard likewise "exonerated" his mom Annabelle Rama as the unseen hand in causing him and Sarah to separate.

Truth be told, he and Sarah drifted apart long before he and Barbie crossed paths.

It will be noted that Richard and Barbie became a twosome coosome item when they met for the first time at Tipsy Pig, a gastropub somewhere in Alabang. It turned out that unbeknownst to each other, Richard and Barbie were business partners.

Sightings of them together happened one after another. And the rest — as they say — is history.

Probing into what exactly stands between them, the actor's classificatory response comes down to the hackneyed "what-you-see-is-what-you-get" expression.

If he won't let the cat out of the bag, can Richard at least describe Barbie the best way he can, say, her most endearing qualities?

"She's genuine and caring," he enthuses.

Looks like Barbie has earned the stamp of approval of Richard's family, well, judging from its matriarch Annabelle Rama's accepting stance.

The feisty celebrity mom went as far as calling out John Estrada's attention for reportedly hitting on Barbie (which later turned out to be nothing short of fake news).

Meanwhile, clearly in stark contrast is Rufa Mae Quinto's case with husband Trevor Magallanes.

The sexy comedienne has quashed rumors that she and Trevor are fixing their divorce papers.

"No such thing, neither of us is doing just that," Rufa Mae calmly disclosed in her guesting on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.

If she had her way, P-Chi (Rufa Mae's pet name) though would never lift a finger in letting her nearly nine years of marriage go down the tube just like that: "Ang dami ko nang file-file (I've filed so many things already)! It's the last thing I'll do!"

Her rationalè behind it may well be explained in having a child by Trevor.

Athena — Rufa Mae reveals — is very much close to her dad that: "She often asks: 'When will our family be together?' My God, I don't know what to answer!"

If push comes to shove eventually, Rufa Mae asserts she's left with no choice: "If Trevor has really made up his mind, who am I not to respect his decision?"

But asked if she still carries the torch for Trevor, Rufa Mae is not wont to deny it: "Yes of course!"

For now, she'd like to accord her husband the understanding that: "Trevor isn't really used to showbiz, to the kind of world that I live in as he's a very private person. For him, 'tsismis' stuff sucks," she admits.

Along with it comes knowing full well that Rufa Mae isn't at fault all the time. It's her wish though that she and Trevor sit down to thresh things out: "Who knows, baka madaan pa sa lambing (maybe a little sweetness might work)?"

What widens the gap is also the geographical distance between them that she can't help herself: "Those are the times when he's in the US while I'm here at work."

Given this tale of two marriages, whatever end result — legal or otherwise — lies in the horizon, here's wishing both Richard and Rufa Mae sunnier days ahead.
