MANILA, Philippines — Up to 962,615 people intending to vote in the 2026 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections have applied in the ongoing voter registration, according to the Commission on Elections.
The Comelec said that Calabarzon still recorded the highest number of registrants with 203,428 followed by the National Capital Region with 114,820 and Central Luzon with 114,628.
The Cordilleras recorded the lowest number of applicants with 12,147 followed by Western Visayas with 27,341 and Mimaropa with 28,520.
Of the total applicants, 512,378 are women.
The poll body is targeting to attract about 1.4 million new voters for the elections scheduled in November.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia expressed optimism that with the current number of registrants, the poll body could exceed the target until the registration ends in May.
The voter registration started in October.
