The Bureau of Customs seizes eight luxury vehicles linked to former Rep. Elizaldy Co at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City on Thursday night, Jan. 8, 2026, after initial findings show import violations and unpaid duties and taxes.

MANILA, Philippines — After seizing the Discayas’ luxury vehicles, law enforcement agencies have turned their attention to cars linked to former Rep. Elizaldy Co.
In a joint extraction operation on Thursday night, January 8, authorities took custody of eight of nine vehicles associated with Co at a condominium parking area in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.
The vehicles were covered by a court-issued search warrant following initial findings by the Bureau of Customs that they lacked proper import documentation and had unpaid duties and taxes.
Police Colonel John Guiagui, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) NCR, said in an ambush interview with DZBB that the vehicles were registered under multiple entities and individuals.
These include Sunwest Inc., a firm co-founded by Co; Misibis Resort and Hotel, which he reportedly owns; and other vehicles listed under the name of his wife, Mylene Recinto-Co.
Some of the seized luxury vehicles included a Rolls Royce, Toyota Sequoia, Escalade, Lexus and Fortuner, Guiagui said. No documents were found stashed in these cars.
He also said that 15 vehicles were initially flagged and placed under monitoring, with other cars linked to Co that lacked registration found in the same parking area.
Vehicles not covered by the search warrant were taken in by the Highway Patrol Group (HPG).
However, Guiagui said at least one vehicle that authorities are looking for managed to leave the parking lot before the extraction operation.
He added that an earlier attempt to remove some of the cars from the parking area the night before was stopped by the Taguig City Police Station.
Aside from the initial violations, Customs Deputy Chief of Staff Chris Bendijo said authorities were also suspicious of the Co-linked vehicles because some had been bulletproofed with armor plating.
The CIDG intends to apply for a warrant to obtain records on the ownership of the parking slots used by the seized vehicles.
Guiagui said the fact that the vehicles were located in a condominium gives them reason to believe the slots were likely paid for and tied to condominium units.
“Kung wala ka naman condominium, itong ano na to, kanino ito? Kasi may designated parking ito eh, binabayaran ito eh,” he said. (If you don’t own a condominium unit, then who does this belong to? These are designated parking slots, so they must be paid for.)
The eight luxury vehicles seized were first transferred to the parking lot of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Authorities are still determining what to do with the seized vehicles if they are deemed illegally imported or unregistered.
But with the Discayas’ luxury vehicles, the BOC had most of them bidded out, raising roughly P47.7 million as part of the government’s anti-corruption effort to recover alleged stolen funds.
Co was declared a fugitive by the Sandiganbayan following a graft and malversation case tied to a P289.5 million flood control project in Oriental Mindoro, which triggered arrest warrants.
He left the country in July under a House travel clearance during Rep. Martin Romualdez’s brief speakership and resigned two months later amid allegations of budget manipulation and facilitating kickbacks.
