CEBU CITY — A 74-year-old man died after a multicab pick-up hit him while he was walking along Purok 6 in Barangay Cambinocot, Cebu City on Sunday night, April 27, 2025.
Authorities identified the victim as Hilario Auman Limotan, a resident of the same barangay. The driver of the multicab was Benjie Maunes Ardita, 41, from Sitio Kang-Atis, Barangay Lusaran, also in Cebu City.
The Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office said the multicab was heading toward Lusaran when it hit Limotan, who was walking beside the road.
The impact threw Limotan to the ground, causing severe injuries that led to his death.
Responders from the barangay rushed to the scene and administered first aid but failed to resuscitate Limotan.

Police took Ardita into custody and are preparing to file a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against him.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Highway Patrol Group 7 and local residents rescued a 19-year-old woman who fell into a ravine on Transcentral Highway in Sitio Cantipla, Barangay Tabunan, Cebu City on Sunday afternoon.
The woman, a resident of Barangay Day-as, Cebu City, was riding a Honda Click 125 motorcycle when her brakes reportedly failed while navigating a curve, causing her to overshoot the road and fall off the cliff.
Lieutenant Jomar Ybañez, team leader of the Philippine Highway Patrol Team Cebu (West), led the rescue operation.
Officers used a rope to lower themselves and retrieve the victim with the help of residents. They brought her up safely and transported her to the hospital by ambulance.
