MANILA, Philippines — Six universities in the Philippines have joined the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026, where at least 11 subject areas were ranked.

Aside from the University of the Philippines (UP), other schools included in the list released on Jan. 21 were Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University (DLSU), Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Mapua University and University of Santo Tomas (UST).

In arts and humanities, UP, Ateneo and DLSU ranked 601-800. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) took the top spot.

In engineering, DLSU, Mapua and UP were included in the 1251+ bracket. Harvard University maintained its leading position in this subject.

In physical sciences, Mapua and MSU-IIT were ranked 1001-1250, while Ateneo, DLSU and UP were included in the 1251+ bracket. California Institute of Technology ranked first.

In business and economics, UP ranked 801-1000 and DLSU joined the 1001+ bracket. MIT also ranked first in this subject.

In psychology, DLSU ranked 401-500; Ateneo and UP, 501-600. Cambridge led the ranking in this subject.

In computer science, Mapua ranked 801-1000, while DLSU and UP joined the 1001+ bracket. The University of Oxford topped this subject’s ranking.

In life sciences, UST and UP ranked 801-1000. Harvard ranked first.

In social sciences, Ateneo, DLSU, Mapua and UP ranked 801-1000, while UST joined the 1001+ bracket. MIT took the top spot.

In education studies, DLSU and UP joined the 401-500 bracket, while UST ranked 501-600. Stanford University held on to first place.

In medicine and health, UP ranked 501-600, while UST joined the 601-800 bracket. Oxford took the top spot.
