MANILA, Philippines — Five officers of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) cleared the 2025 Bar Examinations.

In a statement on Thursday, January 8, BuCor Chief General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. congratulated the officers who passed the Bar Exams.

“Their achievements not only highlight the individual accomplishments of these outstanding officers but also reinforce the commitment and potential within our organization,” Catapang said.

“Each of these five individuals,” he added, “has shown tremendous resilience throughout their respective journeys. Their stories are testaments to the values of hard work and commitment, serving as an inspiration not only to their colleagues at BuCor but also to aspiring lawyers nationwide.”

The following are the prison officers who passed the Bar Exams:

  • Charles Agraba
  • CSO1 Nino De Vera
  • CO3 Robin Saicag
  • CTSO1 Cherry Manago
  • CO1 Xerces Sebido

Catapang said that the legal proficiency of the new lawyers would be a major asset to BuCor’s objectives, as their expertise would provide a deeper insight into the legal complexities of the corrections system.

“With their newfound knowledge, they will contribute to a more robust understanding of the legal intricacies surrounding corrections and rehabilitation. The integration of legal perspectives within our team strengthens our ability to uphold justice and support the rights of individuals under our care, ensuring that our operations align with the highest standards of law and ethics,” Catapang said.

The results of the 2025 Bar Examinations were released on January 7. Out of the 11,420 who finished the exams, only 5,594 passed, yielding a passing rate of 48.98%.
