MANILA, Philippines — A total of 43 areas reached danger-level heat index yesterday, with Dagupan City registering a scorching 48 degrees Celsius temperature, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Both Aparri, Cagayan and the Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija were at 47 degrees Celsius yesterday.

Baler, Aurora and Puerto Princesa City, Palawan reached 46 degrees Celsius followed by Tuguegarao City; Echague, Isabela; San Ildefonso, Bulacan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; and Pili, Camarines Sur at 45 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Bacnotan, La Union; Casiguran, Aurora; Iba, Zambales; Subic Bay, Olongapo City; Camiling, Tarlac; Cavite City, Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Roxas City, Capiz; Catarman, Northern Samar; and Borongan, Eastern Samar all registered 44 degrees Celsius heat index.

A temperature of 43 degrees Celsius was observed in Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Laoag City and Batac, Ilocos Norte; Alabat, Quezon; Cuyo, Palawan; Mambusao, Capiz; Iloilo City; and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte.

The remaining areas that logged 42 degrees Celsius were Basco, Batanes; Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac.
