MANILA, Philippines — Four areas in the country are expected to experience heat indeces of 40 degrees Celsius and above, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said the town of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro may feel “danger level” heat index of 42 degrees Celsius.
The “danger level” heat index ranges from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius and may cause people to experience heat cramps and exhaustion. Continuous exposure to “danger level” can cause heat stroke.
Meanwhile, border “extreme caution” heat index of 41 degrees Celsius is projected in Dagupan, Pangasinan, while Echague in Isabela, Coron in Palawan and Borongan in Eastern Samar may experience a heat index of 40 degrees Celsius.
The “extreme caution” category ranges from 33 to 41 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, cloud formations brought by the easterlies may bring rain in some parts of Mindanao today.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience fair weather, PAGASA said.
