Police take custody of a Taiwanese man following his arrest in Para- ñaque yesterday for the killing of a Chinese national.

MANILA, Philippines — Murder charges have been filed against four more Chinese nationals tagged in the killing of a Chinese man whose dismembered body was found stuffed inside a drum in Binondo, Manila.

Police confirmed yesterday that the suspects were the registered tenants of a condominium unit along Roxas Boulevard where the murder occurred last week.

National Capital Region Police Office spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo said authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

Probers are still investigating if the four Chinese were inside the condominium unit when the killing took place, Asilo said.

Six people were implicated in the murder of Xiangyang Shen.

A Chinese national, identified only as Davao, was arrested by police last week. He allegedly masterminded the killing.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines clarified that Davao is not a Taiwanese as earlier reported.

He and a 64-year-old man named Victor, who allegedly helped Davao transport the remains of the victim to Binondo, Manila is now also in police custody.

Prior to the killing, probers said that Xiangyang supposedly had a drink with Davao.

Davao reportedly tried to collect the debt that the victim owed him.

An argument prompted Davao to stab the victim, wrap him in a garbage bag and stuff him in a blue drum, which authorities discovered in Binondo on Feb. 15.

“Based on our information, the suspects and the victim were part of a money changer business before. We are determining if that business is still active,” Asilo told reporters.

Police are still determining how much Xiangyang owed Davao.

Davao’s partner, who also resides in the condominium unit, helped authorities identify the four Chinese nationals and the victim.

Police confirmed the nationality of Xiangyang through a grocery membership card.
