CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Four of the eight dismissed police officers accused of robbing a retired teacher have been arrested in Imus, Cavite.
Former staff sergeants Jesus Alday and Julius Barbon, and corporals Jenerald Cadiang and Lew Amando Antonio were collared in Barangay Malagasang 2C on Monday, according to Col. Ariel Red, Cavite police director.
The accused were charged with robbery and planting of evidence by retired teacher Rebecca Caoile in August 2023.
Police have yet to arrest two other defendants, while another had reportedly died. Another defendant, identified as former patrolman Reymel Reyes, was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to the charges.
