“Right now, there are 3,000 ongoing projects, 2,500 of which will be completed by June, and the remainder will be completed in September. So, well within the two-year cycle of classrooms. Based on our assessment, we are on track to finish the entire 4,000 classrooms for 2025 by September of this year,” Dizon said at a joint press conference with Education Secretary Sonny Angara in Makati City.

MANILA, Philippines — The 4,000-classroom backlog in 2025 will be completed in September, according to Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon yesterday.
At a hearing of the Senate finance committee, Dizon has said that only 22 classrooms were built last year by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
Angara and Dizon signed a memorandum of agreement in a bid to hasten the construction of classrooms amid a shortage of 165,000 in the country.
Dizon also assured of transparency in the construction of the classrooms.
“We created our transparency portal, all the relevant documents, the plans are there, the bidders, the names of the successful bidders, things that weren’t there before, are here now,” Dizon said.
Angara said that the DepEd targets to construct 20,000 classrooms for this year.
