MANILA, Philippines — At least 36 people were injured and 12 killed by Tropical Storm Basyang (international name: Penha), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
In a situation report Monday, February 9, the agency said the storm affected 579,176 individuals, or 162,501 families, across 1,201 barangays.
Of those affected, 55,087 individuals were staying in evacuation centers, while 81,107 were outside evacuation facilities, according to the NDRRMC.
Infrastructure, housing damage. The NDRRMC reported infrastructure damage worth P260,000 in Region 10.
A total of 43 roads and four bridges were affected by the storm, with 40 roads and three bridges deemed impassable.
The agency also recorded damage to 503 houses, estimated at P164,000. Of these, 66 were destroyed, while 437 were partially damaged.
Transport disruptions and aid. A total of 94 seaports were affected, with 23 declared non-operational and 71 operational.
The disruptions left 1,892 passengers stranded, along with 831 rolling cargoes, 104 vessels, and 20 motorbancas.
The NDRRMC said P8,342,944.49 in assistance had been distributed to 1,297 affected families.
