The Special Investigation Task Group arrest a female car agent and her husband who was a dismissed police officer in Quezon City on Saturday, January 31.

NCRPO

MANILA, Philippines — Police authorities arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of a policewoman and her 8-year-old son on Friday night, January 30, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.

No information on the suspects has been disclosed yet as of writing, except that the cellphones of the slain policewoman and her son were recovered from the suspects, the Quezon City Police District Investigation and Detection Unit reported.

The police have been investigating the death of Senior Master Sgt. Diane Marie Mollenido, a member of the NCRPO, and her son, John Ysmael.

Mollenido was reportedly shot dead, with her decomposing body found along a creek in Pulilan, Bulacan, on January 24.

Meanwhile, Ysmael was found wrapped in tape and inside a garbage bag on January 29 in a calamansi farm in Victoria, Tarlac, after a two-week search.

According to the autopsy report, he died of asphyxiation, meaning he may have suffocated to death.

On Saturday, January 31, the Special Investigation Task Group arrested the female car agent and her husband, who previously served as a policeman but was reportedly dismissed.

The car agent was designated a person of interest in the investigation after authorities discovered that the 8-year-old son was last seen with Mollenido on January 16.

Relatives of the victims reported to the police that the mother and son left their home in Taguig City to sell their Toyota Innova for P450,000 to a certain "Romeo" in Novaliches, Quezon City.

According to the PNP, the Regional Highway Patrol Unit of the Cordillera Administrative Region managed to recover in Baguio City the vehicle that Mollenido had planned on selling.

Authorities on Saturday continued their search for the firearm believed to have been used in the killing of Mollendio and Ysmael along Pulilan-Baliuag Bypass Road in Bulacan. — with reports from The Philippine STAR / Manuel Tupas and News5
