MANILA, Philippines — As part of the EDSA busway modernization plan, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will add three new stations in Cubao, Magallanes and PITX to enhance commuter access and improve operational efficiency in 2026.

“We will have three new stations on the EDSA busway because we want to improve and speed up the time and motion along EDSA for public transportation,” DOTr Undersecretary for road infrastructure Mark Steven Pastor said.

He said construction would start in 2026 and is expected to be completed within a year.

The new Kamuning station on the EDSA busway is expected to be inaugurated in the first quarter of 2026.

It will feature elevators and escalators to enhance accessibility for persons with disabilities, senior citizens and pregnant women.

A footbridge separate from the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) is also planned for the Kamuning area.

Meanwhile, the DOTr has ordered bus operators to deploy additional units along the EDSA Carousel to accommodate more commuters while the major thoroughfare is undergoing rehabilitation works.

The MRT-3 has also increased capacity by deploying Dalian trains, especially during peak hours.

At least 80 personnel from the DOTr-Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) have been deployed around the clock to assist the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and Philippine National Police in traffic management.

SAICT personnel are stationed at the MMDA Metrobase to monitor operations for faster coordination.

The DOTr also announced that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has finished reblocking and applying asphalt overlay along the EDSA Buendia station.

The DPWH said the overlay work has been completed.
