BAGUIO CITY, Philippines —Three gold buyers were shot dead by unidentified assailants in Lal-lo, Cagayan on Thursday.
Police identified the fatalities as Salic, Mutalib and Janisah, all surnamed Amerol, who were residents of a Muslim community in Tuguegarao.
Probers said the victims traveled to Lal-lo to meet a man who offered to sell them gold worth P1.2 million.
The victims, along with two others, left Tuguegarao at around 8 a.m. in a Toyota Vios.
Upon arrival at the town proper, their contact reportedly said that the gold was located in the remote village of Sta. Teresa.
The victims agreed to go to the village with the seller, while their two companions stayed behind.
A few hours later, police found the victims dead with gunshot wounds.
Probers found out that the assailants returned to the town proper in the victims’ vehicle to look for those who stayed behind.
