MANILA, Philippines — Aparri and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, along with the Isabela State University Echague in Isabela, will reach a dangerous heat index of 47 degrees Celsius today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
In a bulletin, the state weather bureau said 45 degrees Celsius may also be observed in Dagupan City in Pangasinan and San Jose in Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, 44 degrees Celsius will be recorded at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University in Bacnotan, La Union; Baler and Casiguran in Aurora; San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Sangley Point, Cavite; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan and Iloilo City.
Additionally, Laoag City; Mariano Marcos State University in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Iba, Zambales; Central Luzon State University in the Science City of Muñoz; Cubi Point in Subic Bay; Tarlac Agricultural University in Camiling, Tarlac; Ambulong in Tanauan, Batangas; Alabat, Quezon; Cuyo, Palawan; Daet, Camarines Norte; Virac, Catanduanes; Masbate City; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture in Pili, Camarines Sur; Roxas City and Mambusao in Capiz; Dumangas in Iloilo and Catarman, Northern Samar will register a 43 degrees Celsius temperature.
PAGASA also forecasted 42 degrees Celsius heat index at the Science Garden in Quezon City; Itbayat and Basco in Batanes; Calayan, Cagayan; Clark Airport; Infanta, Quezon; National Agromet Station-University of the Philippines Los Baños; Coron and Aborlan in Palawan; Juban, Sorsogon and Borongan and Guiuan in Eastern Samar.
PAGASA classifies a heat index category under danger level if it ranges between 42 degrees Celsius to 51 degrees Celsius.
It warned the public that prolonged exposure outdoors may lead to heat cramps and heat exhaustion.
