We’re almost halfway through 2025, but the stage lights in Manila are far from dimming.

This year is proving to be a landmark one for Filipino theater fans, with acclaimed Broadway and West End productions making their way to local stages.

From Tony Award-winning hits to enchanting revivals, there’s something for every theater kid out there. Here are the biggest shows hitting the stage in the second half of 2025 (so far).

1. 'Come From Away'

GMG Productions and Stages will bring the award-winning hit Broadway musical "Come From Away" to Manila, featuring an all-star Filipino cast including Sparkle star Garrett Bolden, Cathy Azanza-Dy, Caisa Borromeo, and more.

The musical will be held from June 6 to 29 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, Circuit Makati

Directed by Michael Williams with musical direction by Rony Fortich, "Come From Away" tells the true story of 7,000 stranded airline passengers welcomed by a small town in Canada during the aftermath of 9/11.

2. 'Side Show'

This July, the Sandbox Collective will stage "Side Show," a Broadway musical inspired by the real-life story of conjoined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton, who became vaudeville stars in the 1920s and 1930s.

The musical, featuring book and lyrics by Bill Russell and music by Henry Krieger, has been nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Stay tuned for casting and ticketing details!

3. 'Into the Woods'

Theatre Group Asia (TGA) will stage "Into the Woods" from August 7 to 31 at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, Circuit Makati.

The enchanting musical that intertwines fairy tale characters like Cinderella, Jack, and Little Red Riding Hood. This production stars Lea Salonga as The Witch, her child Nic Chien as Jack, and Eugene Domingo as Jack’s Mother. Other cast members include Arielle Jacobs, Joreen Bautista, Mark Bautista, and Joaquin Valdes.

4. 'Dear Evan Hansen'

For the first time, the UK touring production of "Dear Evan Hansen" will be coming to Manila! Presented by GMG Productions, the show will run from September 4 to 21 at The Theater at Solaire in Parañaque City.

The Olivier, Tony, and Grammy award-winning production explores themes of identity, connection, and truth, featuring a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

5. 'Shrek The Musical'

End the year with a family favorite!

"Shrek The Musical" will run from October to December at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, Newport World Resorts in Pasay City. It will be directed by Michael Williams, with assistant direction by Cara Barredo, choreography by Stephen Viñas, music direction by Rony Fortich, and musical staging by Dexter Santos. It features books and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori.

The show brings to life the beloved green ogre’s story with a fun and heartwarming Broadway adaptation. The production originally premiered in 2008, earning eight Tony nominations.
