CAMP MELCHOR DELA CRUZ, Gamu, Isabela — Two members of the New People's Army (NPA) were captured in a running gun battle with government soldiers in Dicamay 2, Jones, Isabela on Sunday morning.
The rebels, whose names were withheld by authorities for security and privacy reasons, belong to the NPA-Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley.
They are now being held for questioning. It was not reported if they were hurt or injured from the encounter.
Soldiers from the 86th Battalion, who spotted the rebels in the area, also recovered two M-16 Armalite rifles, a magazine, assorted bullets and personal belongings from the site of the clash.
In a statement, Maj. Gen. Gulliver Señires, 5th Infantry Division commander, urged the "remnants of the communist movement to surrender and give themselves up."

He promised to give safe conduct passes to rebels who are willing to return to the fold of the law.
