MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration has added two products to the FDA list of essential medicines exempted from the value-added tax (VAT).
In an advisory, the FDA said two more drugs for cancer are now VAT-exempt.
These are Nimotuzumab, 50 mg/10 mL (solution for IV infusion) and Ruxolitinib (as phosphate) 5 mg (tablet).
Under Republic Act 11534, the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises or CREATE Act, medicines for cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, kidney diseases, mental illness and tuberculosis should be exempted from VAT.
