COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two men were killed in an ambush in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur on Tuesday.

The victims, one of whom was identified as Ibrahim Pigkaulan, died at the scene of the attack that occurred in Barangay Damawato.

Th other fatality, whose name was withheld, was a known supporter of police anti-crime efforts, according to Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman, chief of the Bangsamoro police.

The victims were traveling in Barangay Damawato when unidentified men waylaid them.

The assailants escaped after sensing the arrival of responding police officers and village officials.
