DAVAO CITY — Joint personnel from Task Force Davao (TFD) and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) intercepted a total of P6.9 million worth of illegal drugs from two individuals at Sirawan Entry Point in Toril District here on Saturday.
TFD in its report said the seizure came as authorities intensify security measures at all border control points in compliance with Davao City Ordinance 048-22, series of 2022, which mandates enhanced safety and security protocols during major events and in designated areas within the city.
The arrested individuals were identified as Mijan Karah Irilis, 46, a resident of Purok 8 Tubungan, Zamboanga City, and Abden Sala Ganih, 32, a resident of Jolo, Sulu.
The suspects were traveling towards the city onboard in a white Nissan Navara pickup when intercepted by authorities at around 11:00 p.m.
During the search, the vehicle yielded one heat-sealed transparent plastic pack containing approximately 1,020 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P6,936,000.

The authorities also seized 84 pcs. of P200 bill in denomination totaling P16,800, which accordingly was used to bribe the authorities manning the checkpoint.
TFD commander Col. Rodrigo Mariñas Jr. commended the unwavering dedication and vigilance of TFD and DCPO personnel for their thorough screening of all inbound passengers.
"The consistent seizure of illegal drugs at our border control points exemplifies the stringent checkpoint operations conducted by security forces to ensure the safety and security of every Davaoeño by preventing the entry of illegal items and contraband into the city," Mariñas said.
The suspects and the seized contraband are now in the custody of Toril Police Station.
