MANILA, Philippines — Two people died while two others were injured when a wing van rammed three vehicles in Atimonan, Quezon on Tuesday.
The fatalities – identified as power linemen Gilbert, 49, and Nicmar, 24 – died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Sta. Catalina at around 2:40 p.m.
Reports said the wing van was traveling down the Diversion Road when the vehicle’s engine malfunctioned, causing the driver to lose control of the wheel.
The van reportedly hit a tricycle driven by Gilbert with Nicmar on board and a motorcycle parked along the roadside, and rearended an Isuzu self-loader truck.
Responding members of the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office rushed the drivers of the wing van and the truck to the nearest hospital for treatment of injuries.
Probers said that relatives of the fatalities have reportedly expressed willingness to settle the matter amicably.
