MANILA, Philippines — Up to 2,121 public school teachers and school principals in Eastern Visayas have been promoted as part of the goverment’s efforts to strengthen the country’s education work force.
Among those who were promoted under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) system are 26 teachers who have been serving in public schools for 12 to 39 years.
President Marcos yesterday witnessed the mass oathtaking of newly promoted teachers at the Tacloban City Astrodome, with Education Secretary Sonny Angara administering the oath.
Marcos reiterated his promise that no Filipino teacher will retire as Teacher 1, as he highlighted efforts such as the ECP to address barriers to the career growth of teachers.
Angara said the promotion is a result of Marcos’ focusing on the welfare and professional growth of teachers.
“This is for you teachers here in Eastern Visayas who show resilience and concern every day, no matter how many typhoons have passed by. You are the proof that the fight continues, the teaching continues,” Angara said.
More than 65,000 teachers and school principals have been promoted since the ECP was implemented in August last year.
