CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — Up to 2,000 police officers will be deployed across Central Luzon starting today, to secure travelers and motorists who will spend the summer and Holy Week in the provinces.
The deployment, is part of the “Ligtas Sumvac 2026” campaign of the Philippine National Police, according to Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Jess Mendez.
The campaign intends to ensure a safe, orderly and secure summer vacation.
Authorities are expecting thousands of travelers to visit various tourist destinations in Central Luzon from today until May 31.
Mendez said that police presence will be intensified along major roads and areas frequented by people.
Police assistance desks and centers will be set up in bus terminals, airports, seaports, major highways, tourist destinations and other areas of convergence, he said.
Mendez said that road safety officers will be assigned to manage traffic flow and assist travelers.
Police station commanders in the region have been ordered to coordinate with local officials, non-government organizations, concerned agencies and volunteer groups to ensure public safety.
Aside from police officers, force multipliers and auxiliary partners as well as barangay peacekeeping action teams and volunteer groups will be mobilized to prevent criminals from taking advantage of the holiday.
