MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Sunday, May 18, said that a total of 16,000 new teaching positions have been approved for 2025.
This is 16,000 out of the 20,000 teaching positions targeted for creation in 2025, according to the DBM.
“The DBM’s approval of the 16,000 new teaching positions is in adherence to our President’s directive to strengthen our country’s education system. This move is also in support of the Department of Education's efforts to boost the teaching workforce across Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior High School, Senior High School, and the Alternative Learning System,” DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said in a statement on May 18.
The DBM said that 15,343 Teacher I posts were created with Salary Grade 11, while there are 157 new Special Science Teacher positions with Salary Grade 13. Lastly, 500 special education teaching positions have been approved, with Salary Grade 14.
Senior High School teaching positions can be created at the division level, so School Division Superintendents can transfer and reassign them to where they are needed.
A total of P4.194 billion was allotted for the creation of these new teaching jobs, which is lodged in the Department of Education’s budget for 2025.
In line with the election ban, the release of Notices of Organization, Staffing, and Compensation Action will be done following the election period.
