MANILA, Philippines — Up to 154 students of the University of the Philippines-Diliman graduated summa cum laude during the 115th general commencement exercises at the UP amphitheater over the weekend.
Summa cum laude is an academic distinction given to a student who earned a weighted average grade of 1.20 or higher.
The UP Office of the University Registrar said 927 students graduated magna cum laude and 914 students, cum laude.
A magna cum laude distinction is for those who received a grade of 1.45 or higher while a cum laude award is for students with a grade of 1.75 or higher.
Last year, 241 students graduated summa cum laude in UP-Diliman.
