With schools and most work suspended today, Good Friday offers people an opportunity to be more intentional with how they spend their time.

Instead of binge-watching the usual fare of entertainment, consider turning to classic Filipino films that speak to the deeper questions of faith, suffering, and redemption.

Regal Entertainment Inc. has a ready Youtube playlist perfect for this day. Titled "10 Best Holy Week Movies for Reflection This 2025," it invites viewers to engage with the season's solemnity in a meaningful way.

"Nakausap Ko ang Birhen" (1988). Starring Lotlot de Leon, Ramon Christopher, Eddie Garcia, Snooky Serna and Janice de Belen, the movie follows Milagros, a young girl maltreated by her father. She begins to see visions of the Virgin Mary and discovers her gift of healing. As she becomes a symbol of faith in her community, she must navigate doubt, exploitation, and personal loss.

"Anghel sa Lupa" (2003). Cogie Domingo plays Benjo, a young man who passed on prematurely. He is given a second chance to guide the living, confronting his past and witnessing how love and forgiveness can transform lives. The film invites viewers to reflect on mortality, spiritual legacy, and grace — important reflections during the Lenten season. The cast also includes Dina Bonnevie, Ricky Davao and Maxene Magalona.
